Selena Gomez Takes Stand Against DUIs

Selena Gomez, the star of "Wizards of Waverly Place," spent her Friday evening watching DUI checkpoints, along with 30 other high school students. The program was designed for high schoolers to watch law enforcement in action and become educated about drinking and driving.

Gomez, 15, will get her license in July, but said she was happy to get educated. According to People.com, she said, "Drunk driving is obviously a serious issue that we all need to be aware of."

So far, Gomez has maintained her self-professed good girl image. She says the Hollywood party scene doesn't appeal to her, and has worn a purity ring since age 12 that says "True Love Waits."

"I'm kind of lame," she said. "I prefer quiet evenings at home, hanging out with my family."
